Above & Beyond Award, 2/17
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Foundation presents an award within PBSO called the Above & Beyond Award. The recipient of the Above & Beyond Award for February, 2017 is Deputy Ron Boiuso.
Deputy Boiuso was on a call checking on the welfare of some children. He found a single parent trying to take care of four kids, three of whom were disabled. He saw that there was no food in the home and was worried the family would become homeless.
Deputy Boiuso took it upon himself to contact various business owners on his own time, and he told them about the situation. The next day, he and the business owners dug into their own pockets to buy the family groceries and cleaning supplies. They also hired an extermination company and bought the family a new refrigerator. Still not content, Deputy Boiuso got the family assistance from social services, and later helped them come up with a down payment for a nicer house.
As word of Deputy Boiuso’s good work spread, he started to receive phone calls and offers of assistance from the community and his church. Knowing that there are many others in need, Deputy Boiuso started his own nonprofit organization to help disadvantaged people get food, clothing and shelter. The name of his nonprofit is Ministries Helping People in Need. The Sheriff’s Foundation is pleased to have made a donation to this important charity.
Thanks to his selfless compassion, local families are being cared for during their time of need. Deputy Boiuso, the Sheriff’s Foundation thanks you for going Above & Beyond! |
