Mounted Unit Needs Mounts
The Foundation is helping PBC Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit acquire two horses. You can help. The horses will cost $8,000 a piece. You can contribute by clicking on the Donate button. Typically horses have to be non-thorough bred, big-boned "gentle giants" like Quarter Horses or Belgian Draft Horses. The size and strength is for crowd control duties or chasing suspects through rough terrain. The gentleness is for the innumerable times little children (and their parents) rub the horses' noses and run their hands along their broad, smooth bodies, even occasionally taking a tug on the mane to see what "horse hair" feels like.
